Fill 'Er Up!
The political awakenings of knitting activists are as unique as the knitters themselves. For Syracuse University fine-arts graduate student Jennifer Marsh, a five week stint as a volenteer teacher in northern India motivated her, as she puts it, "to cultivate a dialoge between sculpture and the rest of the world." On a local level, Marsh is using her International Fiber Collaborative project to call attention to our over dependence on fossil fuels by temporarily covering an abandoned gas station in Syracuse Suburb of DeWitt with 800 3-foot-square panels of knitted, crocheted and/or sewn fabric. The deadline for handcrafted donations is March 15, 2008. Learn more at internationalfibercollaborative.com.
